It’s All About The Chair

Yes, sometimes it is!  Sometimes the chair that is used at your ceremony or reception venue can make or break your wedding decor.  Check out some of the great photos we found on Pinterest that either made – or didn’t make these weddings!

Cute chair treatments.  There are so many different things that you can do with them now, here are a couple of my favorites.  The use of ribbon is always cute, use a color that matches your theme.  I also love the use of mixed chair types!

Moving onto the Chavari Chair.  Always classy and very versatile, pretty chair treatments can be added, now even covered.  You an also change out the chair pad color.  Most common is the Gold and the Silver chair, but the wood ones are pretty in certain venues too!

The Ghost Chair is not new, but is  new in certain parts of the country.  These chairs are clear…I love these too!  Easy to design around because they just tend to blend in.  Very pricey for brides in our area, but you may see them used at a sweetheart or head table.

Lastly we get to the Chamelon Chair.  My ultimate favorite!  Again very pricey for brides in our area, but a great option for sweetheart tables and head tables.  I just love the lines on these chairs! These also come in great colors and are easily dressed and decorated!

Chocolate & Champagne

Everyday I get emails from vendors advertising products & services for me to try to pitch to brides – lots of times they end up in my trash box, but this company I have to love!  I met one of their representatives years ago and I still remember what the Chocolate & Champagne tasted like!

This is a great idea for cocktail hours and bridal showers!  Not that expensive either!

Things to Consider before booking your wedding venue

Photo above: Greensboro Country Club

Other than the dress one of the first things that brides run out to do is find their wedding venue.  This can be dangerous if you don’t have a budget in mind or created.  You’ll need to know how much you can spend on each area of your wedding before you starting booking and buying things.

We have lots of traditional locations in Greensboro and our surrounding areas to host a wedding.  We also have some not so traditional locations and then of course some off the beaten track locations.

When looking for your venue it is a good idea to have a plan in mind first – and then find the venue that suits it.  99% of the time brides look for the venue and then try to fit their ideas around the venue.  It is easier the other way.

I’m not the type of planner that will give you a list of things to look for – I’m giving you an honest way to do things to make your wedding day what you’ve always wanted.

Any questions!?

Small Touches to increase guest comfort

Yes, I get it, it is your wedding day and it should be all about you.  BUT to have a successful event you have to make sure that your guests will have a good time also.  I’m not talking about just hosting an open bar, I’m talking come guest comfort that will make your event much more enjoyable and memorable for both YOU and your guests!

  1. Make sure the address to the ceremony and reception are clearly on the invitation or insert cards on your wedding invitations.  Most guests’ use GPS if they don’t know where they are going so map/direction cards are optional.
  2. Pay attention to time!  If you start your ceremony an hour late…your reception will end an hour early and you may not have the time to see all of your guests and they won’t have time to enjoy having the family all together.
  3. Make sure that you create a room block.  Out of town guests may not know where to stay.  This helps them quite a bit with at least 2 to 3 options close to the ceremony or reception site.
  4. Try to visit each table, if only for a couple of minutes, to make them all feel welcome.  They’ll appreciate the gesture and you’ll love all the congratulations!
  5. BE YOU!  On your wedding day, just be you!  Your groom is marrying YOU and your family and friends have gathered to see YOU! Make sure she is there….you get the idea!

How to book your wedding venue

Grandover Lawn - Facing Building

I see so many couples just jumping into contracts with wedding venues without considering what they really want for their wedding day.  Sometimes couples jump because they like the price or they want something grand.  If they hired a real wedding planner we have different options for price and for grand.

There have been times we had a blank room and made it grander than Grandover itself! What is my advice.  PLAN IT OUT!!

Plan out your visits before you get there, you’ll need a couple of things first:

  1. BUDGET – what are you ok with spending on your venue and catering (most are included together!)
  2. THEME or LOOK, you’ll need to know something about what you want your wedding day to consist of so you can find a place to match – or find a blank space to change.
  3. SCHEDULE try to go and see them all in one day so they are all fresh in your mind!

When you visit you’ll need to consider even more items:

  1. Location – how far from ceremony location or do they have reception and ceremony in the same place?
  2. How far will guests need to travel? Are hotels nearby?  Will you need transportation to and from?
  3. What is included in the rental and do I really need it!? Just because they offer white linens don’t mean that you’ll use them so don’t make that a factor in your decision – unless you want to use them.
  4. How much time does my rental include for my wedding day? How much time will I need for set up? Is there a cocktail hour space for my guests?

There are lots more reasons to consider a venue don’t let a sales person push you into something on your first visit, sleep on it and then decide, otherwise it could cost you a lot of money!
